iMeetzu Instant Messenger is Live!

Hey everyone, been a while since the last update. Since then we’ve added all sorts of useful features, but just within the last couple hours we added the biggest one in quite some time, the iMeetzu instant messenger! No longer are you stuck using your inbox for private messaging, instead you can now instantly message back and forth in a much more efficient manner while browsing the site! It’s great!

Other things we’ve done include optimizing the site in all sorts of ways so that pages load faster, and adding various little things like the “user online” notification on profiles. At any rate, we still have a long road ahead of us in terms of adding a whole lot more new features, so wish us luck! We hope you enjoy the site, and as always, we love to hear from you and we will take all your feedback into consideration!

Later,

Aaron

iMeetzu Free iPhone App Back Online and Other New Changes

Posted by Admin | Posted in News | Posted on 25-01-2011

Hey everyone,

Over the last month or two iMeetzu has undergone serious changes, and already seems to be benefiting. First off, we know the iPhone app mysteriously disappeared for a while, but now it’s back and ready to go (just make sure you are using a compatible OS version on your phone!). You can get the iPhone app 100% free by clicking here. This time the app is here to stay, and be sure to look out for an upgraded version coming out in the near future!

Something else that recently occurred was the removal of conversation publishing. You complained, we listened. Not only did removing the conversation publishing allow people to stop worrying about having to click that annoying “do not publish” button, but it also sped up the website DRAMATICALLY! Every page loads faster now that we aren’t sifting through a database of 1.5 million+ conversations all the time. No surprise there :)

We’re also currently looking into adding an assortment of new features, including instant messaging and video chat, so stay tuned and enjoy!

Sincerely,

Aaron

Downtime, Updates, and Other “Strange” Junk

Posted by Admin | Posted in News | Posted on 05-08-2010

0

So, just this last night we had some downtime, although not really THAT much (on and off working over 3 hours or so?), thanks in part to a brute force / DDOS attack, which we apparently didn’t have any protection in place for (silly us), and maybe also in part due to some resource-intensive-rogue-MySQL-process-creating coding, although we aren’t positive on that one. We went ahead and disabled the recent activity / feed portion of the site for the time being, just in case (we’re planning on redoing the coding behind it anyway). So yea, when all was said and done, and currently as I write this, the server is back to being lightning fast – hurray!

In other updates, check out the Reddit posting and commentary on our article entitled “25 Weird Dating Site Pictures“, since Reddit users are quite entertaining for the most part. Also, if you haven’t heard the rumors, we are in the process of working on a video chat feature, although there will be a lot of planning involved with regards to how we should work it in to the current setup – any suggestions in that regard are welcome! You can offer suggestions via the form provided within the stranger chat room, as comments to this article, or as comments on our popular Facebook page!

We’re also working on revamping the site’s functionality with regards to the ability of users to search for other users by location, age, sex, etc, which will be great to have! And another couple useful additions with relation to registered users would be notifications of responses to comments, comments on your chat logs, etc. and the ability to request a chat with another user, whether via our current chat room or via an on-site instant messenger. So yea, we’re thinking about adding all sorts of things, make sure you pitch in with your ideas or support for our ideas as well!

As soon as we get enough of the new features added, we’ll be unleashing a much larger advertising campaign, and you’ll have a whole lot more other people to chat and network with! Currently, even with our minimal advertising, the site is actually doing pretty well in terms of growth, so keep coming back and you’ll keep having more and more fun!

In terms of other “strange” junk, well, I guess I don’t really have any at the moment.

I’m sure I forgot to mention something I was going to talk about, but oh well, have fun with iMeetzu!

-Aaron

iMeetzu hits 10,000 Registered Users!

Posted by Admin | Posted in News | Posted on 12-06-2010

Today iMeetzu had its 10,000th registered user sign up, a testament to the strength behind what began as merely a little idea. Our membership has consistently grown despite the fact that we have a pretty small advertising budget, have received very little publicity, and are merely a two man team. The official launch of the registration, profile, and logging system occurred on November 2nd, 2009. During the time from then until now we have also logged a stunning 725,000 conversations! Further, we have been constantly tweaking the site, increasing the loading time of pages, and adding new features.

In terms of features to come, we know there are a lot of improvements that need to be made. Examples include adding a password reminder system, allowing users to add music to their profiles, a way to tell if users are currently online, an instant messaging system, and adding a video chat capability. The problem with adding a video chat, however, is that we can’t really log videos, so we may have to reconsider the entire premise of the current version of the site.  Because we have yet to receive much publicity, it is hard for us to tell whether or not the chat logging, rating, and commenting capabilities are highly desired or not.  Nonetheless, we do recognize that video chat has been and still seems to be a powerful internet trend.

If you have not already, be sure to connect with us on Twitter and Facebook, and help us spread the word! More users leads to more feedback, which allows us to make the site even better!

Thanks for reading, and we encourage everyone to stay in touch with us as much as possible.

Sincerely,

Aaron

The new iMeetzu is up and running!

Posted by Admin | Posted in News | Posted on 08-11-2009

This blog has been rather neglected, but now we have some great news! The new iMeetzu is complete, sort of. We still have a lot of features in the pipeline, but in terms of basic necessities and what we envisioned iMeetzu becoming, all the pieces have mostly come together. We even went ahead and issued an official press release!

At any rate, it has been a long road from iMeetzu’s beginning as a very basic one-on-one chat service back in late July 2009 to what it has become today! Now it is a cross between Facebook, Omegle, and Hot Or Not. It’s a new type of social network, promoting “open source conversationlism”. But then again, there is still the option to privatize one’s conversations, so maybe “open source” isn’t the best way to describe it. A better way might be to call it a “conversational social network”, a phrase brought to my attention by KillerStartups when they recently reviewed the site.

Regardless of what it should be called, it is definitely something the internet has never seen before. We are indebted to all our users who have helped us mold iMeetzu into what it is today. The feedback has been extremely helpful, and we will continue to use it in the future! Now, our main focus has shifted to marketing our creation, and we have some promotions coming up soon that will hopefully help get the word out, and get iMeetzu the attention it needs to make it the true form of what we envision. After all, what’s a social network without lots of people to socialize with? You can help to by telling your friends, so don’t be shy! Thanks again to all our users, and we hope to make iMeetzu much better in the near future.

Within a couple of days we should be launching the new version of iMeetzu. It will have tons of new features, and you will never go back to Omegle again. For a sneak peak of one of the new features and more information on what the new site will be like, check out Aaron’s blog post.

Also, not too long after launch we will likely be releasing an iPhone application. Check out Josh’s blog post for more information on that.

Other future developments will likely include a Facebook application, and of course there will be a lot of evolving features as soon as you provide us with more of your oh so helpful feedback!

Stay tuned, the big launch is near.

Now You Can Send Images and We Moved Servers

Posted by Admin | Posted in News | Posted on 20-08-2009

You can send pictures now! We’re adding way more features than Omegle, and we’re going to keep them coming.

New features coming out soon include: New conversation publishing and rating system, new user registration system, your own profiles, and so much more! Don’t worry, you can still chat anonymously, you just have the option to let the other person know who you are if you want, by adding them or sending them a link to your profile.

We will also be adding a new nicer layout, so stay tuned to let us know what you think of it!

Ok, so we know the image uploading feature has been kinda messed up lately. We just got it all figured out, so within 4 hours of this post pictures should be back to working normal.  The problem came from complications that arose when we moved this website to it’s new web server. At any rate, we’re all set now! Share the site with your friends, spread the word, and send us feedback to help us make this the best chat/stranger/friend site ever!
